Local Students Gain Auto Collision Training Through Advance Wisconsin Employment Funding
Students in the Wausau area recently had the opportunity to develop hands-on automotive skills thanks to funding support from Advance Wisconsin Employment, which helped make participation possible in a specialized auto collision training program. The initiative brought together three key partners—Northcentral Technical
College, Wausau East High School, and the Wisconsin Automotive and Truck Education Association (WATEA)—to provide students with real-world instruction inauto body and collision repair techniques.
The collaboration reflects a growing commitment to expanding career and technical education pathways for young people in central Wisconsin. By connecting high school students with college-level resources and industry expertise, the program aimed to give participants a competitive edge as they explore careers in the automotive trades. Advance Wisconsin Employment’s financial support, made possible through the Worker Advancement Initiative grant, played a critical role in removing barriers to participation, ensuring students could access the training regardless of cost.
